Report: Newcastle among clubs interested in Burnley's Ashley Barnes

Manager Sean Dyche of Burnley looks on during the pre season friendly match between Preston North End and Burnley at Deepdale on July 25, 2017 in Preston, England.

Burnley are reportedly willing to listen to offers for the Austrian striker, with Newcastle United, Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough all keen.

Newcastle United, Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough are interested in signing Burnley striker Ashley Barnes, according to The Daily Mirror's transfer news blog (10:14).

It is claimed that Burnley, who completed a club-record deal for Chris Wood at the start of the week, are willing to listen to offers for Barnes as a result.

And despite having scored only six goals in 28 Premier League outings last season, the 27-year-old is seemingly not short of suitors.

Interest from Burnley's Premier League rivals Newcastle and Huddersfield is certainly plausible, with the Magpies still looking to sign another striker in spite of Joselu's recent arrival and the Terriers putting Nahki Wells up for sale.

Middlesbrough though, have already spent more than £40 million on five new strikers this calendar year, with three of those moving to the Riverside throughout the current transfer window, and may be less keen.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez admitted recently, however, that he must offload players before he can bring in any more new faces.

Would Burnley's Barnes be a good signing for Newcastle / Huddersfield / Middlesbrough?
