A number of Football League clubs have made offers for former Sheffield Wednesday star Jose Semedo, HITC Sport understands.

Semedo is a free agent after the expiration of his contract at Wednesday earlier this summer.

The defensive midfielder spent six seasons at Sheffield Wednesday, making 167 appearances and he established himself as a big fans’ favourite during his time at Hillsborough

The 32-year-old is currently back in his native Portugal training and spent most of his summer training with close friend – Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Semedo is weighing up his options as he considers what the next move in his career will be and he already has an offer on the table from Portuguese Primeira Liga side Vitoria Setubal.

However, Semedo’s preference is to return to England having spent the last ten years there with Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday.

League One duo Scunthorpe and Bury and League Two hopefuls Chesterfield have all signalled their interest in signing Semedo, while a number of other clubs in England are also weighing up a move for the free agent.
