Brentford defender Harlee Dean has only one year left on his contract and has attracted the interest of Leeds United, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday.

Even with all of Leeds United’s central defenders fully fit, Thomas Christiansen could do with one more addition before the transfer window shuts in two weeks’ time.

Therefore, The Whites boss could have done without the injuries picked up by Liam Cooper and Everton loanee Matthew Pennington in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Preston North End.

However, according to The Mirror, Leeds are now aiming to reinforce their defence with the signing of Brentford centre-back Harlee Dean.

Though Bees boss Dean Smith insists that the club are yet to receive an offer for the 26-year-old, as reported by West London Sport, The Mirror reports that Leeds are interested along with Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City.

Furthermore, with just a year remaining on his contract, Brentford could listen to offers of around £2 million for their 2016/17 Supporter’s Player of the Year.

Dean, who spent two years at Southampton without making a first-team appearance, was one of the Championship’s most consistent defenders last season, starting 42 fixtures as Brentford sealed a top half finish.

Renowned for his strength in the air, Dean could form a formidable partnership with Pontus Jansson at the heart of Leeds’ backline.

And it looks increasingly likely that Dean will leave Griffin Park before the end of the transfer window, especially after manager Smith stripped him off the armband due with contract negotiations rumbling on in the background.

Though Hull City, who were taken apart by Wolves in a 3-2 home defeat on Tuesday, may offer some competition as they look to find a centre-half capable of replacing departed duo Harry Maguire and Curtis Davies.
