Burnley are set to bid £20 million for Leeds United’s Chris Wood.

Burnley are set to test Leeds United’s resolve over striker Chris Wood by offering £20 million, The Mail report.

The Clarets had a lower offer turned down by Leeds at the weekend but have made the New Zealand international their top target after selling Andre Gray to Burnley.

The Mail report Leeds have two alternatives in mind, with potential loan deals for Pierre-Michel Lasogga and former club captain Ross McCormack.

Both are talented players but they each had terrible 2016/17 seasons, with the fact their clubs are willing to loan them out speaking volumes for their current situations.

Wood finished as the Championship’s top goalscorer last season, netting 27 league goals for Leeds.

Lasogga (2) and McCormack (3) scored just five league goals combined.

So far this summer he has committed his future to the club and been used on promotional imagery for the club’s new kits, showing the club have not been planning for him to leave.

Leeds signed Wood for just £3 million from Leicester City in the summer of 2015.
