While Ben Woodburn is not yet ready for a starting role at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp must work to keep the starlet happy with a good loan move.

Bundesliga outfit Hannover are interested in taking Liverpool pair Ben Woodburn and Ryan Kent on loan, according to Kicker.

And Wales Online believe that Woodburn is the German club’s priority, with the 17-year-old impressing for the Reds in pre-season and scoring against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.

Woodburn became Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer last season and, despite his fledgling years, received a senior Wales call-up in March.

It is this talent that led to Don Balon reporting in April that Real Madrid, with international team-mate Gareth Bale’s encouragement, and Barcelona were both keen on signing the young prospect.

While Jurgen Klopp would be keen not to lose Woodburn and offered the player minutes in pre-season, he must know there will be limited first team opportunities this term, with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho, Mo Salah, Daniel Sturridge and others already locked in a battle for attacking roles.

And so a loan move makes the most sense for both Liverpool and Woodburn as it allows him to continue his development.

Rather than drop into the Championship, a switch to an elite league on the continent – such as the Bundesliga – would also allow Woodburn to test himself against the very best before returning to mount another challenge on Klopp’s side.
