HITC Sport understands Monaco are keeping tabs on Wigan midfielder Burgess.
Wigan youngster Luke Burgess has emerged as a shock target for French champions Monaco.
Burgess is highly-rated within the corridors of power at Wigan having come through the club's youth ranks.
The 18-year-old was handed a professional contract with Wigan at the end of last season after impressing for the club's Under-18s.
Burgess helped Wigan reach the fifth ound of the FA Youth Cup for the first time in the club’s history two seasons ago and also played a key role in helping the Latics to national final of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup.

The all-action midfielder has yet to make his competitive first-team debut for Wigan, but he has been involved with the first-team under new manager Paul Cook in pre-season.
Burgess' progress at Wigan has not gone unnoticed among other clubs higher up the football pyramid with several Premier League clubs keeping tabs on him.
However, French giants Monaco have now been alerted to Burgess' talents and they are actively monitoring his situation.
Monaco have a proven track record of developing young players for their first-team and they see Burgess as a potential star in the making.
