Michael Owen predicts Liverpool v Hoffenheim Champions League tie

Liverpool and Hoffenheim will face each other in the Champions League playoff round this season.

Michel Owen has predicted on social reworking site Twitter that Liverpool will win against Hoffenheim in the Champions League playoff round.

Premier League club Liverpool and German side Hoffenheim will take on each other in the playoff round for a spot in the group stage of Europe’s premier club competition this season.

The first leg of the tie will be held in Germany, with the second leg scheduled to be held at Anfield.

Former Liverpool striker Owen has backed Jurgen Klopp’s side to get the better of Hoffenheim over two legs and book their place in the group stage of the Champions League this season.

Liverpool have some brilliant players, such as Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, and the Merseyside outfit will head into the tie against Hoffenheim as favourites.

Owen has also backed the Reds to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, predicting them to end up third.

During the 2016-17 campaign, Liverpool finished fourth in the league table, ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United.

“Liverpool will have to go through the qualification rounds for the UEFA Champions League which adds extra matches, but Jurgen Klopp has addressed this by adding both quality and quantity to the squad,” Owen told PremierLeague.com. “A good run in Europe and another top-four finish will be seen as a good season.”
