HITC Sport understands the Nottingham Forest youngster is set for Notts County loan.

Ryan Yates (L) in action for Shrewsbury Town last season

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates has agreed a season-long loan deal at city rivals Notts County, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Forest boss Mark Warburton is willing to loan out Yates so that he can continue his development by playing regular first-team football this season.

Yates is well down the pecking order in Warburton’s first-team plans and a number of clubs have expressed an interest in taking the 19-year-old on loan.

Notts County boss Kevin Nolan is keen to bolster his ranks at Meadow Lane and has lined up a deal for Yates.

Nolan has already brought in Yates’ Forest team-mate Jorge Grant in on loan this summer and Forest have now agreed to sanction another loan player to their neighbours.

Yates enjoyed two successful loan spells away from the City Ground last season at National League outfit Barrow and League One side Shrewsbury.

Yates scored two goals in 19 games during his loan spell at Barrow before moving to Shrewsbury last January and he played a key role in helping them avoid relegation in his 12 appearances for the club.

The teenager could go straight into the Notts County squad for this weekend’s League Two opener with Coventry City.
