Everton could include Callum Connolly in a deal for Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to reports.

Everton’s pursuit of Swansea City playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson continues – and the Toffees may look to strike a part-exchange deal to finally land their man.

Ronald Koeman’s men have already splashed the cash on the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Davy Klaassen, as well as bring back Wayne Rooney, but Koeman is keen on another big addition,

In pursuit of more creativity, Everton have failed with two bids for Swansea ace Sigurdsson, totalling £40million and £45million – but they haven’t ended their chase just yet.

The Mirror reported over the weekend that Everton are prepared to include defender Callum Connolly in a deal for Sigurdsson, with the Toffees pushing to tempt the Swans into a deal before the start of the new Premier League season.

Connolly, 19, has come up through the ranks at Goodison Park having joined Everton way back in 2006, and he has recently enjoyed loan spells with Barnsley and Wigan Athletic.

Now, Connolly – an England Under-20 international – is looking to push for first-team football, and whilst Everton may plan to send him to Swansea, many Toffees fans aren’t keen on that idea at all.

Supporters have taken to Twitter to urge Everton not to send Connolly to South Wales, backing him for a huge future whilst calling the potential deal ‘very bad business’ and ‘insane’.

Others believe that Connolly has to be kept as Leighton Baines’ cover at left back, with some wanting Everton to include Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ross Barkley, Oumar Niasse or even ex-Swansea defender Ashley Williams in the deal instead of Connolly, who appears to have plenty of support from fans at Goodison Park.

Do you think Everton should keep Connolly?
