The ex-Arsenal defender is said to be in discussions over a free transfer move to Sheffield Wednesday.
Johan Djourou is in talks with Sheffield Wednesday, according to The Sun (31 July, page 46).
The former Arsenal defender was first linked with a move to Hillsborough on Sunday, although Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal refused to comment on the speculation when questioned by BBC Radio Sheffield later that evening.

But The Sun reports that Carvalhal has turned to Djourou after missing out on ‘various’ targets, and the free agent is said to be keen on a return to English football after leaving Hamburg at the end of last season.
Djourou is yet to play for a club outside the top division in any country, however, and it remains to be seen whether a move to the Championship would appeal to the 30-year-old, who has 67 caps for Switzerland.
Wednesday are desperate for defensive reinforcements, after seeing their options reduced to Tom Lees and Glenn Loovens since the end of last season.
And bringing in Djourou, who has made more than 100 Bundesliga appearances for Hamburg and Hannover, and 99 in the Premier League for Birmingham City and Arsenal – with whom he also gained Champions League experience, could be a shrewd move for the Owls, who are keen to remain within the EFL’s Financial Fair Play boundaries.
Would the ex-Arsenal defender be a good signing for Sheffield Wednesday?
