West Ham United took on Werder Bremen for the second time in quick succession.
West Ham United and Werder Bremen drew 2-2 in the second leg of their Betway Cup match on Saturday, with new Hammers player Marko Arnautovic getting his first goal for the club and youngster Toni Martinez also finding his way on to the score sheet.
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic gave some of his young players a run-out, with winger Nathan Holland appearing in the second half, and big things are expected of the 19-year-old in time.
Bilic has come in for some criticism in the past for not giving youth a chance and, when you consider the Hammers have some of the best teenage prospects in the country coming through the ranks, the fans' frustration is justified.
This summer has seen the likes of Holland, Martinez, Reece Burke and Declan Rice all given a chance at one time or another, but they could still struggle to make their mark when the competitive action kicks off next month.
That said, all they can do is their best during pre-season and hope it is ultimately enough to be included in the first-team fold from August.
For some, a loan move seems likely, but others could get chances in the cup competitions and in the league when circumstances dictate.
After their latest match we took to Twitter to see what West Ham fans thought of Holland's performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Pleasing to hear positive reports about Rice, Holland and Martinez but still hard to see them getting a decent run this season. #coyi— Adam Plom (@AdamPlom) July 29, 2017
I think most of them have shown they got something. Even Makasi. I do like Holland though. Not afraid to take a defender on.— Brian Yeo (@dmyeo66) July 29, 2017
holland is one who don't look out of place looking forward to seeing getting a chance looks like he wants it— dakidmaniac (@faimlymanmain) July 29, 2017
Overall played well. Masuaku was class, Arna was impressive. Rice looked good too and Martinez goal! Tbh I didn't rate Holland. Snoddy poor— Billy (@Billy_WHUFC) July 29, 2017
Great goal by Nathan Holland but he's flagged offside— West Ham News (@WHUFC_News) July 29, 2017
