Sheffield Wednesday have been joined by Sunderland in the race to sign Aston Villa’s Hutton.
Wednesday have been strongly linked with a move for the Scotland international of late, and it is claimed they were leading the race for his signature.

But Sunderland, with whom Hutton enjoyed a spell on loan at the start of the decade, are also said to be in the running.
Hutton recently had his Aston Villa contract extended by 12 months until June 2018, but has competition from James Bree and the fit-again Ritchie De Laet, as well as new recruit Ahmed Elmohamady.
And according to The Mirror, the Villans could cash in ‘if they get a decent offer’, as they look to balance the books after signing ex-England captain John Terry as one of five summer recruits.
Neither Sunderland nor Sheffield Wednesday are short of options in Hutton’s position, with new recruit Tyias Browning one of three Mackems players capable of playing there, along with Billy Jones and Donald Love.

Wednesday have rotated between Jack Hunt and Liam Palmer over the past two campaigns, although the latter was recently linked with a move for Bolton.
