Queens Park Rangers are weighing up a move for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Elliott Bennett, HITC Sport understands from sources close to club.

QPR boss Ian Holloway is desperate to add to his squad before the start of the new Championship season and he has identified Bennett as one of his top targets.

Holloway is a big admirer of the former Norwich man and sees his experience and versatility as making him a key addition to his plans at Loftus Road.

Bennett is entering the final year of his contract at Blackburn after joining the club fron Norwich in January 2016.


The 28-year-old was one of Blackburn’s shining lights last season despite their relegation from the Championship.

Bennett made 30 appearances last season for Blackburn and chipped in with four goals from midfield.

It remains to be seen if Blackburn would consider letting Bennett go this summer as Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is keen to keep hold of his best players as he looks to try and win promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking next season.

QPR are in need of proven Championship experience after narrowly avoiding relegation this season and Holloway is ready to test Blackburn’s resolve to hang onto Bennett.
