Nottingham Forest have been linked with Newcastle United’s Daryl Murphy and Norwich City’s Cameron Jerome.

Replacing Britt Assombalonga at Nottingham Forest was always going to be a difficult task for Mark Warburton, but the 54-year-old boss appears to be going about his mission in exactly the right manner.

Rumours have already started over who Forest will sign to replace Assombalonga, and Reds supporters should be encouraged by their initial targets.

The Nottingham Post report that Forest are set to sign Newcastle United’s Daryl Murphy.

And there are also suggestions in The Sun, that Forest are after Norwich City’s Cameron Jerome.

While neither of the pair may be the most exciting targets, they are exactly what Forest need at this moment in time.

Jerome and Murphy are proven scorers in the Championship, and will ensure that Warburton replaces Assombalonga’s goals next term.

The pair both have great track records in the second tier, and even though they are reaching the latter stages of their respective careers, they remain huge weapons in the Championship.

And if Forest could complete the double deal, then they may not miss Assombalonga as much as first feared.
