Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez is reportedly wanted by West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

West Ham United have spoken to representatives of Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 63, July 16, 2017).

It has been reported that West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has made the former Manchester United striker his number one transfer target this summer after pulling out of the race to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.

Hernandez’s representatives and the Hammers have spoken over a transfer, according to the report, which claims that the 29-year-old would earn £145,000 per week as salary at the London Stadium.

According to The Sunday People (print edition, page 56, July 16, 2017), Hernandez has a £13m buy-out clause in his contract at Bayer, which the Hammers are happy to pay.

Given Hernandez’s previous experience of playing in the Premier League and his natural ability to score goals, it makes perfect sense for West Ham to pay £13m as transfer fee for him.

However, the weekly salary of £145,000 does sound quite a look, especially as the former Guadalajara striker is 29 years of age.
