HITC Sport understands Newcastle striker set for Bolton move.
Newcastle United’s Adam Armstrong in action
Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong is set to join Bolton Wanderers on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Newcastle confirmed Armstrong was set for another loan move away from the club next season after he was left out of the Magpies 27-man squad for their Ireland training camp.
A number of Football League clubs have expressed an interest in taking the prolific forward on loan, but Bolton have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a deal for the 20-year-old.

Armstrong, who has come through the ranks at Newcastle, is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at St James’ Park and he helped England win the Under-20 World Cup this summer.
Armstrong has spent the last two seasons out on loan, scoring 20 goals in 40 matches for Coventry City in League One during the 2015/16 season and more recently finding the net six times in 34 games for Barnsley in the Championship last term.
Armstrong is well down the pecking order at Newcastle with the likes of Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Perez, Daryl Murphy and Aleksandar Mitrovic all on the books at St James’ Park while there could be further new arrivals before this summer’s transfer window closes.
Magpies boss Rafa Benitez feels another loan move is the best option for Armstrong to play regular first-team football and continue his development.
Armstrong’s signing will come as a major boost to Bolton boss Phil Parkinson as he looks to strenghten his squad ahead of life back in the Championship next season.
