Leeds United’s Pablo Hernandez is being linked with a move away from Elland Road.

According to Israeli news outlet Ynet, Maccabi Tel Aviv are looking to sign Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez – and have called upon Ben Mansford to get the deal done.

Hernandez, 32, was a major signing for ex-Leeds boss Garry Monk last summer, having played together at Swansea before Monk also managed him at the Liberty Stadium.

The Spanish playmaker was a key figure for Leeds last season, notching six goals and eight assists in an impressive campaign, and he not only signed a six-month contract following his loan spell from Al-Arabi, but then signed a new one-year deal just a week before Monk’s exit.

Now, Hernandez’s future may be in doubt, with Leeds on the verge of signing another Spanish playmaker in Samu Saiz, and new manager Thomas Christiansen may choose to let one of Monk’s favourite players leave the club this summer.

Israeli news outlet Ynet report that Maccabi Tel Aviv are interested in signing Hernandez, as the club are searching for a replacement for winger Tal Ben Haim, who has joined Sparta Prague.

Intriguingly, it’s stated that Ben Mansford is being called upon to negotiate the deal, having recently left his position as Leeds chief executive in order to take up a similar role with Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

Hernandez may have only signed a new contract two months ago, but the major changes at Elland Road mean that he could be expendable under Christiansen, and Maccabi boss Jordi Cruyff could take advantage.

It’s unclear just how much Leeds would demand for Hernandez, but at 32 years of age, it may not be a significant deal for the Whites.
