7 of Donald Trump’s most controversial tweets this year

The US president tweets a lot. Here are some of his most controversial tweets.

President Donald Trump's tweets were a key part of his campaign, and are now a key part in getting his beliefs and messages out to the country and his followers. Here are seven of his controversial tweets.

1. That time the US president “wrestled” with CNN

Most recently, Donald Trump posted this edited video of himself wrestling so-called “fake news” CNN.

2. That time he had a go at Kim Jong-un

This was not the most diplomatic of moves

3. That time he went for Meryl Streep

 4. That time he accused Germany of owing NATO money (and attacked so-called fake news as well)

...vast sums of money to NATO & the United States must be paid more for the powerful, and very expensive, defense it provides to Germany!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 18, 2017

While Germany has not been meeting the 2% of GDP NATO target for defence spending, the country technically does not owe the organisation any money, according to the Washington Post.

5. That time with Bernie and Fake News

While Bernie Sanders did technically say “CNN fake new”, Politifact reported that it was a jibe towards Trump, rather than a descriptive term for the Network.

6. That time he said Arnold Schwarzenegger ratings were pathetic

 7. That time he accused President Obama of having wire-tapped Trump Tower

The BBC reported in March that “no evidence has emerged” regarding the accusations, and that “senior Republicans have rejected the allegations.”

Not controversial, but who could forget that time Trump tweeted “covfefe”.
