West Brom should respond to Kurt Zouma snub by targeting Chelsea teammate on loan

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis

West Brom are reportedly set to miss out on Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, so perhaps a move for his Blues teammate should be on their radar.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Brom look set to suffer another blow during this transfer window with the news that Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is set to reject a move to the Hawthorns in favour of a loan switch to Stoke.

Though the news will be a blow for Tony Pulis, especially when you factor in that he lost captain and key man Darren Fletcher to the Potters earlier in the window, Zouma's snub perhaps presents the Baggies with a great opportunity to address another problematic position in their squad currently.

West Brom arguably still need to strengthen their options on the left-hand side of the defence; and had Zouma signed on a temporary basis, Pulis would not have been able to sign another Chelsea player on loan this term.

However, Zouma heading elsewhere should persuade the Baggies to make a loan bid for Baba Rahman - the promising left-back who has so far failed to really make an impact for the Blues

Goal has suggested that Rahman will probably head out on loan this summer, but there is a chance that Antonio Conte may include him in his plans for the next campaign.

Should Conte decide to let him leave on loan, West Brom simply have to put themselves in the queue as the season is looming and they still need a number of signings if they hope to build on the promise they showed last term.
