The Hammers are prioritising attacking additions this summer, given that signings from last summer such as Simone Zaza, Jonathan Calleri and Gokhan Tore offered little, with none of them with the club now.
Brazil's Gabriel Barbosa
Given that Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho have well-documented injury issues, another striker is an absolute must for West Ham, and they appear to be casting the net far and wide.
The Mirror report that West Ham want to take Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa on loan for the season, but fear that their move will fall down on work permit grounds.
Gabriel, 20, failed to start a single league game for Inter last season, and with no caps for Brazil in the last 12 months, he may struggle to receive the necessary clearance to play in the Premier League.
Once touted as the new Neymar having also starred for Santos with 56 goals in 154 games for the Brazilian giants, Gabriel earned a big-money move to Inter last summer, with many predicting huge success.
Gabriel Barbosa (L) in action for Brazil
However, his move to Italy has been something of a nightmare, as he played just 113 minutes of league action across nine substitute appearances, scoring only once.
Inter may now be willing to loan Gabriel out in order to give him regular playing time, and whilst West Ham are keen to bring him to East London, they could be left disappointed by the work permit hurdle.
