Glasgow Rangers defender Rob Kiernan has been linked with Milton Keynes Dons.

Milton Keynes Dons are interested in signing Rob Kiernan from Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.

It has been reported that Kiernan has been told by Rangers that he is surplus to requirements at the Scottish Premiership giants.

According to the report, MK Dons, who will feature in League One in England next season, have made a move for the 26-year-old defender, but it seems that they are struggling to come up with the transfer fee that Rangers want.

“The League One outfit are struggling, however, to meet Rangers £200,000 valuation of the Republic of Ireland international and get the deal done,” adds the report in The Scottish Sun.

“They have enquired instead about the possibility of taking the 26-year-old stopper on an initial six-month loan deal as they seek to land him.”

Kiernan has been on the books of Rangers since 2015 and has a contract with the Gers until June 2018, according to

The former Wigan Athletic defender helped the Gers win automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2015-16 season.

The 26-year-old, though, did not have a great time last season, as Rangers ended up third in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers will be aiming to close the gap on Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership next season.

Meanwhile, MK Dons ended up 12th in the League One table during the 2016-17 campaign.
