Newcastle United will try to re-sign the 25-year-old – if Crystal Palace indicate that they don’t want him.
According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle United remain interested in re-signing Andros Townsend – and will try if Crystal Palace make him available for transfer.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez made a late attempt to bring the winger back to the North-East in January, though a return never materialised.

But there will be a number of players fighting for their future at Selhurst Park following the arrival of new manager Frank De Boer this month and it remains to be seen who the Dutchman wants to keep and who he plans to offload.
And The Northern Echo report that Newcastle remain in dialogue with the Londoners over Townsend, whom they will try to re-sign if De Boer makes him available.
The 25-year-old winger left St James’s Park following the Magpies’ relegation to the Championship last summer, joining Palace for £13 million.
But the England international struggled to impress, scoring three goals and setting up just four in 36 Premier League outings for the Eagles last term.
Would he be welcome back?
Some Newcastle fans would be delighted to see him return, having been one of the only players who looked interested in avoiding relegation toward the end of the 2015-16 campaign, though others are still unhappy with his decision to jump ship last term.
