Queens Park Rangers are poised to sign Watford defender Tommie Hoban on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

A number of clubs have expressed an interest in taking Hoban on loan next season, but QPR have moved quickly to agree a deal to bring him to Loftus Road.

Hoban spent last season on loan at Blackburn, but saw his spell at Ewood Park restricted by a dislocated shoulder injury.

The 23-year-old made only 16 appearances during his time at Blackburn because of the injury, but he impressed despite the club suffering relegation from the Championship.

The former Arsenal trainee is highly-regarded at Watford after working his way through the academy to the first-team.

Hoban still has two years to run on his current deal at Vicarage Road, but he is well down the pecking order in the first-team and the club feel he would be best served by going out on loan again to get regular first-team football.

QPR are keen to bring in Hoban to bolster their defensive options after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Championship last season and the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international will be a welcome addition to Ian Holloway’s side.
