Rafael Benitez reportedly wants to bring a new goalkeeper to Newcastle.
According to The Mirror, Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow is wanted by Reading in a £5million swoop – and Magpies boss Rafael Benitez wants a new goalkeeper as his next signing.
Benitez completed a move for Eibar defender Florian Lejeune earlier this week, and with both he and Christian Atsu snapped up, more additions will be planned before the start of the season.

Now, The Mirror claim that Benitez’s next transfer hope is to bring in a new goalkeeper, with Manchester City shot stopper Joe Hart one of his top targets despite doubts over whether Newcastle can afford him.
The report adds that Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow could be flogged this summer, with a move back to the Championship potentially on the cards just months after Newcastle’s promotion.
Reading are believed to be keen on Darlow, and Jaap Stam’s men are reportedly ready to make a £5million bid to lure him to the Madejski Stadium this summer.
Darlow, 26, joined Newcastle in the summer of 2014 but returned to former club Nottingham Forest for a season-long loan deal, meaning he only started his Magpies career in 2015.

The ex-Aston Villa youngster was replaced as Newcastle’s first-choice goalkeeper at the start of last season as Matz Sels took his spot, but Darlow returned to the line-up and spent most of the season as Benitez’s first choice.
Now, despite question marks over Tim Krul’s future as well, Darlow could be sold on this summer, with Reading allegedly leading the race for his signature.
