Celtic had their second pre-season friendly of the summer on Saturday.

Celtic fans don’t seem entirely convinced that Craig Gordon is the right man to be Brendan Rodgers’s first-choice goalkeeper next season.

Less than a month after a questionable performance for Scotland against England, in which he was arguably culpable for both goals, the 34-year-old was poor again in a pre-season friendly for the Scottish Premiership champions in Austria on Saturday.

Gordon, who was superb for most of last season as the Hoops won a domestic treble without losing a match, fouled Rapid Vienna striker Joelinton on the stroke of half time, before the Brazilian converted the resulting penalty.

Centre-back Dedryck Boyata was partially to blame for allowing the forward a sight at goal with a tame back pass but, being a first-team regular, the former Sunderland man appears to have taken the brunt of the criticism from Celtic supporters on Twitter.

Moussa Dembele – one of 11 changes made by Rodgers on the 63rd minute – equalised from the penalty spot to make it 1-1, after Jonny Hayes, a £1.3 million signing from Aberdeen, was fouled in the area.
