The experienced winger would be a useful addition to the Sheffield Wednesday squad this summer.

Popular bookmakers SkyBET have cut the odds on George Boyd joining the Owls this summer, making them the new favourites in the race to sign him, as Carlos Carvalhal looks to bring some experienced players to Hillsborough.

The 31-year-old’s deal at Turf Moor expires today, and whichever club he ends up joining will surely have earned themselves a real coup by adding the hard-working winger to their ranks.

The former Hull City man, who has earned two caps for Scotland, has been linked with a plethora of clubs throughout the transfer window, including Aston Villa and Derby County, according to the Birmingham Mail.

And SkyBET list those two clubs as 4/1 joint second favourites in the race to sign Boyd, behind Wednesday who have been slashed into 2/1 favourites today.

The South Yorkshire outfit will have to prove their intent and trust in Boyd, however, if they wish to sign him, with the Birmingham Mail reporting that the 31-year-old will only consider a contract offer of three years or more.

And with Carvalhal’s man desperately in need of more experience, the former Peterborough United winger could be just the man for the job.
