Celtic signed Kolo Toure in the summer of 2016.
Toure joined Celtic in the summer of 2016 following his departure from Premier League club Liverpool at the end of the 2015-16 season.
The 36-year-old central defender’s contract with the Glasgow giants has run out, and the former Arsenal and Manchester City man is now a free agent.
Rodgers worked with the former Ivory Coast international centre-back at Liverpool, and the Celtic manager has revealed that he wants to keep Toure at Celtic Park in a coaching role.

“It’s a tough one,” Rodgers told The Scottish Sun. “Kolo is still in that mindset, ‘do I want to play?’
“He’s now 36. He was fantastic for us last year, his contract has run out, but he is someone I would like to have a role for.
“Obviously, the playing role diminishes for him. He just needs time to see where he’s at, in terms of playing, or whether he falls into the coaching role more.”
Toure did not play much last season, but the defender was still important for Celtic, as the Glasgow giants won the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup.
Celtic will be aiming to progress to the group stage of the Champions League next season as well, and win the domestic treble. The Glasgow giants are enjoying great success on the domestic front at the moment.
