Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is said to be ‘particularly seduced’ by the 20-year-old.

Newcastle United are interested in signing Rennes attacker Adama Diakhaby, according to L’Equipe.

Newcastle boss is described as being ‘attentive to the French market’, with the report adding he is ‘particularly seduced’ by Diakhaby’s profile.

The 20-year-old, who can play on either flank or up front, scored five goals in 29 league and cup outings last season.

And it is claimed an offer could be made to the Brittany-based side ‘within the coming days’.

Newcastle have had little luck in the transfer market so far, with primary target Tammy Abraham seemingly bound for Swansea City instead.

The Magpies have also been linked with moves for Ligue 1 wingers Ismaila Sarr and Nicolas Pepe, although there is little to suggest that a move for either player is in the pipeline.

Diakhaby began his career at Caen before moving to Rennes in 2015 and making his breakthrough at the start of last season.

Of Senegalese descent, the rangy forward has two caps for France’s Under-21s.

Would Diakhaby be a good acquisition for Newcastle United?
