Everton are reportedly interested in Corinthians defender Guilherme Arana.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton have scouted Corinthians left back Guilherme Arana ahead of a possible move to sign him this summer.
The Toffees have already tied up their first two signings of the summer transfer window, as goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and midfielder Davy Klaassen from Sunderland and Ajax respectively.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman
Manager Ronald Koeman will be looking for more additions this summer though, with Everton preparing for their return to the Europa League – and a left back could be on Koeman’s wish list.
The Daily Mail report that Everton have sent scouts to watch Corinthians left back Guilherme Arana in action, with the Toffees seemingly weighing up a move to sign him.
Corinthians’ Gulherme Arana
The 20-year-old, has come up through the ranks with Corinthians, and has made more than 30 appearances for the club after being out on loan with Brazilian rivals Atletico Paranaense.
Arana, a Brazilian Under-20 international, remains inexperienced but has earned praise for his attacking play, possessing pace and skill to make an impact in the final third.
Everton’s Leighton Baines celebrates scoring their second goal
It remains to be seen whether Everton follow up their interest in Arana this summer, but the suggestion that they have scouted him may hint that Koeman and co are looking to land a young left back in the near future with the plan to groom them behind Leighton Baines.
Baines has been a great servant for Everton and a dependable left back, but he turns 33 in December, and with the likes of Luke Garbutt and Brendan Galloway failing to fulfil their potential so far, Arana – or another left back – could arrive as Baines’ potential heir.
