Aston Villa winger Carles Gil is being targeted by clubs back in his native Spain.
Aston Villa's Carles Gil
Gil, 24, joined Villa from hometown club Valencia back in January 2015, and whilst he showed promise early into his Villa Park career, he has become a misfit in Birmingham.

After three goals and three assists in 34 games, Gil was allowed to leave Villa upon the club's relegation to the Championship, and returned to Spain to join Deportivo La Coruna on loan.
In 23 La Liga games, Gil notched one goal and four assists, but the Galician outfit are seemingly desperate to bring the wide man back to the Estadio Riazor.

Estadio Deportivo report that Depor boss Pepe Mel is calling Gil 'almost evey day' in a bid to tempt him back to Deportivo this summer, with Real Betis allegedly the team best placed to sign him.
Former West Brom manager Mel wants Gil to extend his loan deal with Depor this summer, but Betis may just scupper those hopes with a move of their own.

Villa will be looking to sell Gil to fund other deals this summer rather than loaning him out, and the winger is alleged to have a 'principle agreement' with the Andalusian side.
Whilst Gil's move to Betis isn't done just yet, there seems to be no chance of him playing for Villa next season – and barring a late turnaround, Mel's hopes of signing Gil could be destroyed by La Liga rivals Betis.
