Everton continue to impress in the transfer market and are allegedly hoping to add the Inter Milan man to their ranks.

According to the print edition of Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport (21/06/2017), Everton have opened the bidding for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic at £15.7million.

The Toffees are the latest club seemingly hoping to take advantage of Inter’s need to make £26.3million by the end of the month in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. But much like Manchester United’s pursuit of Ivan Perisic, it seems Everton will not get their man without a fight.

The 24-year-old central midfielder has scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 79 matches for the Serie A side, having previously shone for Partizan Belgrade, and he would be another savvy addition to Ronald Koeman’s ever-improving squad if a deal can be struck in due course.

Despite Inter’s financial situation, they will not want to simply give away their best players and are sensibly holding out for more money, but Everton could hold the advantage given their transfer kitty and the need for Inter to sell one of their big name stars in the next nine days.

Everton have already added Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen to their squad and a deal for Sandro Ramirez could follow in due course.

That would see the Toffees significantly strengthen in a number of key areas and Brozovic’s arrival would ensure they cannot be discounted for a top-four challenge next season.

Having already got a couple of deals over the line, Everton can be relatively patient in their Brozovic chase, although they could lose the advantage if United agree a deal for Perisic before 1 July.

These are certainly exciting times at Goodison Park and their fans surely cannot wait for the new campaign to kick off.
