Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa has been linked with Derby County of late.

Wolves may have only sealed the signing of centre-back Roderick Miranda a matter of days ago but the £2.5 million arrival appears to have already made his presence felt at Molineux.

Because Zero Zero claim that new manager Nuno Espirito Santo will hand Miranda the captaincy. The Portuguese boss knows the defender well from their time together at Rio Ave but how this will go down with current skipper Danny Batth remains to be seen.

And supporters may take issue with Roderick being immediately entrusted with the captaincy. After all, it’s never a good idea to claim that money is the primary motivating factor behind your move.

“Leaving Portugal to play in the second English League, it would have to be financially very appetising,” Miranda admitted to O Jogo two months ago.

Nonetheless, handing the former Benfica youngster the armband would suggest that he is likely to be Nuno’s first choice centre-back ahead of the new Championship season. And this may have serious repercussions for one of the defenders already on the club’s books.

One in, one out?

The Express and Star reported recently that Derby County will make a bid for £4 million-rated, England Under-21 international Dominic Iorfa.

The athletic centre-half, who can also play on the right of defence, only started 21 Championship games last season but reinforcements at Molineux suggest he faces a change beating that tally under Nuno.

Therefore, a summer exit may be the best option for all parties. And Derby are expected to offer Iorfa the chance to progress his career at Pride Park.

After sealing the signing of Curtis Davies from Hull City last week, Rams manager Gary Rowett told the BBC that the club could still add more defenders to their ranks.

And the addition of Miranda suggests Iorfa could be on his way this summer.
