Newcastle United should consider making a move for the Malaga midfielder.
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez
Newcastle United should be looking to sign a quality central defensive midfielder this summer.
Defensive midfield is a specialized role, and Newcastle will require a top player in that position ahead of their 2017/18 Premier League campaign.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move for Everton’s James McCarthy in recent months.
While the Irish midfielder is more versatile, he won’t come cheap. Secondly, his recent injury record makes his signing a big gamble.
Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho in action
Benitez should consider making a move for Malaga’s highly rated midfielder, Ignachio Camacho.
The 27-year-old Spanish midfielder is one of the most underrated players in Spain. For a player of his ability, he should be playing at a bigger club.
Camacho is an old-school type defensive midfielder. He loves to tackle, makes simple passes, and is good at making blocks and interceptions.
Last season he made 35 La Liga appearances for Malaga, and remains a key player for the side.

However, with Malaga in dire need of cash flow, they may sell their top asset.
Camacho has a contract at Malaga till 2019. He has been assured of a renewed contract since last summer, but his situation has not changed at all.
The reason is that Malaga are still hoping for some heavyweight club to offer his €18 million (£15.9 million) release clause.
According to Marca, West Bromwich Albion had shown an interest before, but they never pursued with the deal.
Newcastle should make a move for him, and they may succeed in getting him at a much reduced price as well. He would be a great addition to the squad.
