Everton are reportedly homing in on Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen.
According to The Mirror, Everton are closing in on the signing of Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen, with a £20million deal intended to go through in the next 10 days.
The Toffees finished seventh in the Premier League this past season as they showed signs of progress under Ronald Koeman in his first season in charge.
Koeman will now want to bring in new faces this summer having qualified for the Europa League, with funding from investor Farhad Moshiri available at Koeman’s disposal again this summer.
The Mirror now report that Everton are nearing a deal for Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen, and manager Koeman hopes to have a £20million move tied up within the next 10 days having made him a priority target.
Klaassen, 24, has come up through the ranks of the famed Ajax academy having joined the Amsterdam club way back in 2004, and has now racked up nearly 200 appearances for the club.
The Dutch international midfielder, who hit 20 goals and 10 assists this past season in a superb campaign under Peter Bosz, was named Ajax captain in 2015, and has been the heartbeat of their midfield in recent years.
Tenacious whilst possessing quality on the ball and the knack of timing his runs into the box, Klaassen is almost the complete package in midfield, with the additional bonus of his leadership having served as Ajax skipper.
With Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin in the middle of the park, Klaassen could be given freedom to go forward and contribute in the final third, where he has excelled for Ajax – and with a £20million price tag, he would be a major addition for Koeman should the deal go through as planned.
