A number of English and Scottish sides are chasing highly-rated Barrow striker Richie Bennett, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Barrow caught the eye for Barrow last season after joining last summer from Northwich Victoria.

The prolific forward netted 22 goals in his first season in the National League as Barrow finished in seventh spot and just missed out on the play-offs.

Bennett’s goalscoring exploits have brought him to the attention of several clubs higher up the football pyramid.

Newly-promoted League One outfit Blackpool have been keeping tabs on Bennett, while Chesterfield, Crewe and Carlisle are all admirers of the former Oldham Athletic youngster.

Blackpool are interested in Bennett

League Two new boys Lincoln City are monitoring Bennett’s situation having been impressed by him when they came up against him in the National League last season, while Scottish Premiership side Motherwell are weighing up a move to bring the forward north of the border.

Bennett has just a year to run on his contract at Barrow and the club are bracing themselves for offers for their star striker during this summer’s transfer window.
