According to a report in the Northern Echo, Newcastle United are prepared to offload Karl Darlow this summer.
Darlow was Newcastle’s number one last term, as they earned promotion to the Championship.
However, Rafael Benitez reportedly has doubts over whether Darlow would cope with being the Tynesiders’ number one in the Premier League.
And Nottingham Forest could benefit, by making a bid to bring Darlow back to the City Ground.
Darlow broke through at Forest, before making a move to the North East, and his quality is well known.
When the youngster did leave Forest it seemed that a return to the Reds was unlikely, but now there is an opportunity for reunion, Mark Warburton should take it.
Jordan Smith showed flashes of quality when called upon last season, but Darlow is tried and tested at Championship level now.
The 26-year-old has proven he can be a reliable stopper for a promotion contending side in the second tier.
And, if Forest are serious about going for a top six place next season, Darlow should be on their transfer wishlist.
