Everton face a predicament in the right-back position for next season. Usual starter Seamus Coleman is expected to be out of action for a lengthy period, after his horror leg break whilst playing for Republic of Ireland against Wales.
Everton appear to have moved fast to rectify the situation this summer. It is looking like Cuco Martina is to sign for Everton in the coming days, as reported by the Independent, on a free transfer after leaving his and Koeman’s former club Southampton.

But Everton should really consider giving a player they already have at the club a chance at right-back in Coleman’s absence.
The 20-year-old defender Jonjoe Kenny is the man in question and he is looking like a real star in the making.

The Everton academy graduate, who helped Oxford United to promotion on loan in 2015-16, has played just twice for the Everton first-team but is looking like a potential regular in the making.
He is currently playing with the England under-20s at the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea and has been the star right-back at the competition.
Signing Martina is a smart move, but the Curacao international should have to get in line. As well as Mason Holgate this young man deserves a chance and, at the moment, should be at the front of the queue.
