Manchester City had a disappointing season in what was Pep Guardiola’s debut campaign in England. City failed to do much of note in the Champions League and could end up only third in the Premier League.

City, though, are a very ambitious club, and they have already started planning for the 2017-18 campaign.

The Citizens recently signed Bernardo Silva from French club AS Monaco for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £43 million.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a hugely successful season with Monaco in 2016-17. The midfielder played a key role in Leonardo Jardim’s side winning the Ligue 1 title and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose played against Silva in the Champions League group stage this season.

The England international left-back has spoken highly of the former Benfica youngster, and believes that he is a great signing for City.

“I think he’s a very good signing, if I am honest,” said Rose about Silva on The Friday Football Social on BBC Radio 5 live last Friday evening (broadcast from 7pm, May 26, 2017).

“This season I played against him away. He’s the hardest opponent I played against this season. I don’t think I could get near him for the whole game.”

Silva scored eight goals and provided nine assists in 37 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco this past season, according to WhoScored.
