We catch up with the players rumoured to be interesting Wolverhampton Wanderers during last year's summer transfer window.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers rumour mill is already hotting up ahead of the transfer window. Let us take this opportunity to remember the players linked to the club last summer and see how they got on this season.

The long list of forwards rumoured to be interested Wolves included Peter Crouch (rumour via the Birmingham Mail) , Chris Martin (Sky Sports), and Jordan Rhodes (Sky Sports) .

Crouch finished as Stoke City’s top scorer after bagging 10 goals in all competitions. The 36-year-old netted in wins over Watford, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Southampton.

Martin joined Fulham on a season-long from Derby County. The Scotland international spearheaded the Cottagers’ goal-happy attack and netted braces against play-off finalists Huddersfield Town and Reading.

After a frustrating start to the season at Middlesbrough, Rhodes joined Sheffield Wednesday in January. He scored three goals in 18 appearances, as the Owls failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Rhodes former Boro teammate, Adam Forshaw, was reported, by the Express and Star, to be a target for Wolves. The 25-year-old only missed two league games all season for the relegated side, collecting assists against Leicester City and Swansea City.

Nick Powell was another midfielder linked to Wolves, by the Express and Star, who ended up tasting relegation this season. After missing most of the campaign for struggling Wigan Athletic, Powell returned to the side in April to give the Latics a glimmer of hope. This included a hat-trick against Barnsley to give his side a dramatic 3-2 win.

Wolves were also linked with high-profile moves for Dom Dwyer (Birmingham Mail) , Anderson Talisca (The Sun) and Mario Balotelli (Express and Star).

Dwyer’s reputation in the MLS continues to grow. The Kansas forward has netted 5 times in 11 games for Vlatko Andonovski’s side.

Rumours linking Talisca to Wolves persisted all summer long. He eventually signed on loan with Turkish outfit Besiktas and has been in fine form, collecting 15 goals and six assists in all competitions.

Balottelli has also enjoyed himself in front goal for OGC Nice this season. The former Liverpool man scored 15 Ligue 1 goals, including braces against LOSC Lille, Monaco, Marseille and Dijon. As you might expect, Balotelli still managed to collect to red cards for Les Aiglons.
