Ivan Bravo is reportedly backing Leeds United’s moves for Aitor Karanka and Victor Orta.
According to the Daily Mail, ex Middlesbrough duo Aitor Karanka and Victor Orta are expected to join Leeds United following Garry Monk’s shock departure.
Monk, 38, took Leeds to a seventh-placed finish in the Championship this season, and whilst Leeds had hoped to activate a one-year option on his contract to keep him at Elland Road, the former Swansea boss today resigned.
Monk’s abrupt departure has left Leeds fans in shock, and new owner Andrea Radrizzani now has to work to bring in a new manager in Monk’s place, with Leeds hoping for another play-off push next season.
Leeds recently brought in Spaniard Ivan Bravo as a director, and it seems that the former Real Madrid man will have a major impact on the club’s search for not only a new manager, but also a technical director.
The Daily Mail report that Bravo admires both Aitor Karanka and Victor Orta, with his two fellow Spaniards now expected to be appointed at Elland Road.
Karanka, 43, lost his job with Middlesbrough in March with the club hovering above the relegation zone, but he did some fine work in the Championship with a play-off final appearance in 2015, and an automatic promotion in 2016.
Karanka pushed for transfer ace Orta to be appointed at the Riverside Stadium, and he spent 18 months with the club before his departure from Teesside was confirmed earlier this week.
Bravo may be familiar with Karanka from his time at Real Madrid, whilst Karanka and Orta’s prior rapport could be a major boost for Leeds as they prepare to embark on yet another new era with a new manager at the helm – expected to be Karanka.
