Tottenham Hotspur won their final games of the Premier League season with some style recently. A 7-1 final day triumph at Hull City followed a 6-1 demolishing of Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

That game also saw a surprise debut handed to Spurs midfielder Filip Lesniak. The 21-year-old Slovakian’s Spurs career appeared to be petering out but he finally had a chance to shine in the first-team after entering from the bench.

He did well, even registering an assist in the game, and it was all to the pleasure of his family.

His father Jan, himself a former player, has now been speaking about his joy at his son’s shock emergence.

Speaking to Aktuality the 43-year-old, who played for the likes of Slovakian sides Kosice and Licartovce as well as Austrian outfit Hundsheim in a humble playing career, had this to say about Tottenham’s latest debutant:

"The match I watched at home with my wife and second son Janko, since it was being broadcast live. We really wished him to get on the field, when he was on the bench. Although only a minute. I was very happy when he was on the line preparing for a substitution. An assist for a goal was the proverbial icing (on the cake)."

No wonder he was so happy, given the stature of Tottenham at present and his son’s performance in the 6-1 thrashing.

However, he will have hopefully soaked it up. The Slovakian talent struggled on loan at Czech side Slovan Liberec earlier this season and before this surprise appearance it was accepted he would be leaving Spurs when his contract expires this summer.

Time will tell if that is the case, but he and his family will always have the memory of his brilliant debut cameo for Spurs regardless.
