HITC Sport understands Rangers have won the race for the Aberdeen star, despite interest from Barnsley.

Ryan Jack celebrates after scoring for Aberdeen

Aberdeen captain Ryan Jack is poised to join Rangers on a free transfer after turning down offers from other clubs, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha recently confirmed his interest in Jack as he looks to rebuild the squad at Ibrox for next season.

Midfielder Jack is out of contract at Aberdeen next month and is free to talk to interested clubs.

Jack received offers from Championship side Barnsley as well as Major League Soccer side Columbus Crew SC, but the 25-year-old has opted to turn them down to make the move to Ibrox.

Jack has come through the ranks at Aberdeen and has established himself as one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership.

Losing Jack to one of their Premiership rivals will come as a major blow to Aberdeen who were hoping to tie down the captain to a new deal.

Rangers are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer as they look to close the gap on Aberdeen and Celtic and Jack is likely to be the first of many new arrivals at the club.
