According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United have held talks with goalkeeper John Ruddy about a summer move following his release fro Norwich City.

Ruddy, 30, joined Norwich from Everton back in the summer of 2010, having made just one first-team appearance for the Toffees following a 2005 move from Cambridge United.

The shot stopper immediately became a key first team player for Norwich, and has played his part in two promotion-winning campaigns for the Canaries, whilst racking up almost 250 appearances for the club.

Ruddy made 27 appearances this season, but Norwich chose to let him leave the club this summer, refusing to extend his contract which will expire at the end of June.

Now, Ruddy – who has one England cap to his name – can move on as a free agent, and the Daily Mail report that he has spoken to West Ham United about a summer move to the London Stadium.

The Hammers have used both Adrian and Darren Randolph this season, but neither goalkeeper has particularly impressed consistently enough to make themselves the clear first choice under Slaven Bilic.

Many expect West Ham to be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer, and Ruddy – available on a free transfer – could fit the bill, having played in the Premier League for many years with Norwich.

However, Ruddy was left out of the Norwich team in favour of Michael McGovern in spell of this season, and having been released by the Championship club, many will wonder whether Ruddy is really good enough to become West Ham’s first-choice goalkeeper.
