Manchester United have ‘explored’ the possibility of re-signing Javier Hernandez, according to The Telegraph.

Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the striker, who was sold to Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

Hernandez is not the only former United are looking at bringing back, with Michael Keane high on their wishlist.

Chicharito signed for United in 2010 and played a key role in them winning the Premier League title the following season.

Sir Alex Ferguson was a big admirer of the Mexican international, who found himself marginalised under David Moyes, before being sent out on loan and later sold by Louis van Gaal.

He has scored at a prolific rate for Leverkusen and is still only 28.

Speaking to BBC Sport earlier this year, Jose Mourinho said that Hernandez was one of three players he would never have sold, along with Angel di Maria and Danny Welbeck.

Hernandez is thought to be open to a potential return too, liking a tweet from a United fan last month urging him to come back.

United are in need of striking reinforcements next season with Zlatan Ibrahimovic injured and Wayne Rooney expected to depart in the ummer.
