Leeds United have been linked with a move for the Portuguese centre-back.
According to a report from the print edition of the Sun (8 May, Goals pull-out, page 15), Leeds United are among the clubs interested in signing Vitoria Setubal defender Frederico Venancio, and he could be exactly what the Whites need next season.
What Garry Monk’s team needs more than anything else right now is more leaders.
After all, if they had a team full of Pontus Janssons they may well be preparing for the first leg of a play-off semi-final rather than already seeing their campaign draw to a close.
Venancio is certainly that, as he is already the captain of Vitoria despite being only 24.
He came through the youth ranks at the Portuguese club and has spent his entire professional career to date playing for them, accruing 130 appearances in the process.
It takes a certain type of player to lead their side out at such a tender age and when you consider he was given the armband aged just 23, it is clear he has the attributes needed to succeed at Elland Road.

Leeds are likely to lose a leader in the form of Kyle Bartley this summer, making any new arrival even more important.
And when you consider their club skipper Liam Bridcutt has not justified his possession of the armband in recent months, Venancio could be just what Monk needs to shake things up at Leeds.
