West Ham United played out a 0-0 draw with Stoke City this weekend, with striker Jonathan Calleri failing to get on the score sheet yet again.

The 23-year-old has managed to find the net just once in 17 outings for the Hammers to date and on Saturday’s evidence he is unlikely to add to that tally before the end of the campaign.

Calleri’s arrival on loan back in the summer did not exactly set the pulses of West Ham fans racing, but at least he is still at the London Stadium, unlike fellow striker Simone Zaza.

West Ham have little left to play for with their Premier League safety secured in plenty of time, despite their struggles in the first half of the season, and the prospect of European qualification no longer on the table.

Instead West Ham simply have to play out their remaining fixtures and hope to build up some momentum ahead of what will be a vital 2018.

It remains to be seen if Calleri will still be there. However the improved performances from the likes of Havard Nordtveit and Arthur Masuaku are big positives.
