West Ham United could not find the net against Stoke City on Saturday.
The 23-year-old has managed to find the net just once in 17 outings for the Hammers to date and on Saturday’s evidence he is unlikely to add to that tally before the end of the campaign.
Calleri’s arrival on loan back in the summer did not exactly set the pulses of West Ham fans racing, but at least he is still at the London Stadium, unlike fellow striker Simone Zaza.
West Ham have little left to play for with their Premier League safety secured in plenty of time, despite their struggles in the first half of the season, and the prospect of European qualification no longer on the table.
Instead West Ham simply have to play out their remaining fixtures and hope to build up some momentum ahead of what will be a vital 2018.
It remains to be seen if Calleri will still be there. However the improved performances from the likes of Havard Nordtveit and Arthur Masuaku are big positives.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what West Ham fans thought of Calleri’s latest showing and you can read a selection of what we found below:
If Bilic wants to sign Calleri permanantly .. Then im afraid im going to question his ability as a manager— ⚒misswhu (@MissWHU) April 29, 2017
@itsbillyrutts How we've allowed valencia go and replaced him with the likes of zaza, calleri and fletcher is a joke— Jacob WHU (@foreverboleyn) April 29, 2017
@WestHamUtd Calleri is such a good striker in front of goal. Said no one.— Dave (@DaveyWHU) April 29, 2017
A lot of stick for Calleri, personally, don't think he has done bad.. in a two, with Ayew, he has looked good these last 2 games— Jack⚒ (@JJWaller_WHU) April 29, 2017
Decent first half but Calleri is awful a good striker we could easily be 2 up.— Philip 父 Wilkinson 父 (@PW57WHU) April 29, 2017
The chances Calleri misses are like getting into a bath full of water and failing to get wet. #COYI— Dave (@DaveyWHU) April 29, 2017
Bilic now doing with Calleri what he did with Randolph. Time for change @davidgold .— ian ford (@IanEenyford) April 30, 2017
Beginning to lose faith in Bilic how did we finish that game without a recognised striker on? And wtf does he see in Calleri? #coyi— david regan (@davidregan14) April 29, 2017
Fletcher has always shown more than Calleri, Bilic is crazy— Stuart Seeds (@stuseeds) April 29, 2017
