Barcelona are reportedly targeting Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen.
Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen looks dejected after losing to Chelsea
According to The Mirror, Barcelona are lining up a big-money summer move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen, 25, has enjoyed a superb season with Spurs, registering 11 goals and 18 assists in all competitions, as he continues to serve as one of Tottenham’s most important players.
The Danish international signed a new four-year contract to stay with Tottenham back in September, and whilst he’s now tied to the club until 2020, speculation continues to surround his long-term future at White Hart Lane.
The Mirror claim that Barcelona are keen to land Eriksen this summer, having scouted him on a number of occasions since the beginning of 2017.
It’s stated that Barca want to rebuild their side this summer, and with an heir to Andres Iniesta required, Eriksen – a diminutive midfielder with great quality on the ball – could be seen as the man to sign.
The report even suggests that Barcelona will look to call upon their former midfielder and ex-Swansea manager Michael Laudrup to talk his fellow Dane into making a move to the Camp Nou this summer.
Camp Nou
Tottenham won’t want to lose any key players this summer, and they have worked hard to tie down stars to long-term contracts, with Daniel Levy almost certainly set to charge a huge price for Eriksen this summer.
Barcelona are often difficult to turn down for many players, and Eriksen could follow in the footsteps of compatriot Laudrup by joining the Catalan giants in a big-money deal.
