A report from Swedish outlet Kvallsposten, the list of admirers chasing Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson’s signature now includes Tottenham and Liverpool.

Sky Sports suggested that Southampton were keen on bringing the Sweden international to the Premier League after his tremendous debut season at Elland Road.

Jansson is technically on loan at Leeds, but a permanent deal has been agreed with former club Torino (via BBC Sport). However, it now appears that the Whites will face an extremely difficult task trying to hold onto the maverick centre-back.

According to Kvallsposten, Saints have been joined in the race for Jansson by Liverpool and Tottenham as well as current league leaders Chelsea.

Jansson has certainly been a star player for Garry Monk’s men this term, and his connection with the supporters will surely make staying at Leeds a tempting option should the Yorkshire outfit go on and secure promotion from the Championship this year.

However, with Leeds slipping outside of the top six for the first time since November over the weekend, supporters are beginning to really consider the implications of missing out on going up, and they will know that keeping Jansson will surely be one of the most difficult tasks for the club.

And with Kvallsposten now suggesting that four of the Premier League’s top-half – including the current top three: Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea – are interested, Jansson would certainly be forgiven for seriously considering his options once this campaign concludes.
