Newcastle United prospect continues to impress.
Scunthorpe United's Ivan Toney (C) celebrates with teammates after he scores his sides second goal
Newcastle United youngster Ivan Toney has been flourishing on his loan spell at Scunthorpe United and has won praise from manager Graham Alexander.
Toney, 21, has scored six goals for the Iron since his loan move, including a brace yesterday against Chesterfield.
Speaking to Scunthorpe's official website, Alexander hailed Toney's ability and professionalism.
He said: "Ivan’s first goal was an unbelievable, towering header against a goalkeeper of that size.
"His first showed a desire to win that ball and score. It’s great for him but he knows as well as anybody else that it’s about the whole team."
Scunthorpe United's Ivan Toney scores
Toney has only played four first team games for Newcastle since signing in 2015, and is at his third loan club since then.
Last season he helped Barnsley win promotion to the Championship and his brace yesterday sealed Scunthorpe's play-off place.
His form shows he can be a real asset to Newcastle United in the future, but with the Toon set to win promotion to the Premier League his chances of breaking into their team next season will be tougher than ever.
For now he is doing everything he can, and his form should not go ignored by Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez.
