Tottenham Hotspur arguably have one of the greatest squads in recent history at the moment.

Tottenham hero Graham Roberts has suggested that Dele Alli reminds him of Glenn Hoddle or Paul Gascoigne while Mousa Dembele evokes memories of Ricky Villa, the Daily Mirror reports.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has arguably put together the club's best squad for a number of years, having threatened to challenge for the Premier League title in each of the last two seasons.

And Roberts clearly feels that the current squad could go down in history as one of Tottenham's greatest ever, with two of the current stars reminding him of certain legends from the club's past.

“Look at Dele Alli. The kid is unbelievable. I don’t think we have had anybody like him since Gazza and Glenn Hoddle," he said, as reported by the Mirror.

“You give Dembele the ball and people just bounce off him. I haven’t seen that since Ricky Villa days when I used to bounce off him in training. That’s how strong he is. It’s amazing."

Alli is certainly on his way to greatness. When you consider that he has scored 16 times from midfield in the top flight this term, it is frightening to think that it is just his second season at the highest level.

The 21-year-old is already one of the Premier League's best and should have the potential to get even better in the coming years.

Meanwhile, Dembele is arguably just as influential but goes somewhat under the radar as he quietly goes about his business just in front of the back four.

And with fans probably able to make further comparisons between other members of the squad and club heroes who have enjoyed success at White Hart Lane down the years, it is surely a matter of time before the current team confirm their place in history by winning silverware.
